Our Commitment to Your Family

Empowering Athletes and Families

At Primetime Prospects, we understand that the journey of athletic recruitment is a shared experience between you and your child. Our commitment is to provide guidance, support, and expertise at every step, fostering not just athletic success but also personal growth. We focus on encouraging essential life skills such as accountability, perseverance, and teamwork, ensuring that your child develops both on and off the field.

In our experience, the skills learned through sports extend far beyond the field. We prioritize character building, encouraging accountability, perseverance, and teamwork. These virtues are integral to success in life. As your child engages in the recruitment process, they’ll have opportunities to cultivate these traits, learning how to set goals, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others.

We recognize the mix of excitement and anxiety you may feel regarding your child's future. Our dedicated team is here to alleviate that uncertainty by creating a clear recruitment plan tailored to your child's needs. Our commitment extends beyond securing scholarships; we aim to empower your child to navigate life's challenges with confidence and integrity. Together, we’ll celebrate their achievements and tackle any hurdles, creating a foundation for success that lasts a lifetime.

Working with you didn't just help our daughter secure a scholarship. It made her more confident and responsible in everything.

Guiding Your Child Through the Recruitment Process

Congratulations!

You have led your child through every milestone from birth to this point with love, care, and concern. You have instilled strong values, work ethic, and drive in your student athlete, which has resulted in your child being eligible to be recruited by coaches and athletic programs at universities and colleges. Congratulations!

There is no playbook for parenting and, like many things with raising children, when you don't know what to do, you turn to the experts. Primetime Prospects is committed to helping you understand the process, your role, and how to best support your child as they make their way towards this momentous milestone in their journey to adulthood.

Contact us if you have any questions about the college athletic recruiting process or how you, as the parent, can help maximize your child's prospects in playing for their dream school.

Your role in the college athletic recruitment process

Be a facilitator

Support. Don't control

Support. Don't control

Facilitate the process by helping with research, organization, and logistics. Let your child initiate communication and make decisions that are right for them.

Support. Don't control

Offer encouragement, but avoid excessive involvement or speaking for your child. This is a big red flag for coaches and can have the opposite impact than what you intend.

Prioritize academics

Support. Don't control

Prioritize academics

Remember, athletics are a stepping stone to a college degree. Prioritize helping your child achieve good grades, which are crucial for eligibility and financial aid. Good grades are a gold mine for college athletic recruitment.

Manage expectations

Manage expectations

Prioritize academics

Focus on realistic goals (theirs and yours!) and celebrate the small wins. Help your child learn from failure and see losses as growth opportunities.

Start early

Manage expectations

Be realistic

Begin the recruitment process as soon as possible. This reduces pressure and helps you and your child to establish a roadmap to success. Primetime Prospects will be with you each step of the way.

Be realistic

Be realistic

Understand new NCAA rules and scholarship limits. Be honest about your financial needs. We will be there to help you, but first we need to understand what you need!

Frequently Asked Questions from Parents

Have a question about your child's recruitment journey? Contact us now to get answers.

Earlier is better to understand the requirements and build strong relationships with coaches. For popular programs like football, basketball, and hockey, top talent can and should expect attention from recruiters as early as middle school due to the development timelines of those sports.

For other sports, serious recruiting efforts should be well underway by your sophomore year in high school. The earlier you create your recruiting profiles, begin attending camps, and understanding eligibility rules, the stronger your position will be once recruiting begins in earnest.

Student athletes need minimum 2.3 GPA in 16 core courses plus qualifying test scores for NCAA Division I and II.

  • Sliding scale: higher GPA offsets lower test scores
  • Only NCAA-approved core courses count
  • Check your high school's approved course list
  • SAT/ACT required for D-I and D-II
  • D-III sets own institutional standards
  • Primetime Prospects can help you and your student athlete ensure course selection meets eligibility requirements

Most student athletes receive partial scholarships covering 20-40% of costs, renewed annually based on performance and academics.

  • Full scholarships rare outside "head count" sports (football, basketball)
  • Most sports divide limited scholarships among roster
  • Renewed yearly—not guaranteed four years
  • D-III offers no athletic scholarships (academic/need-based only)
  • Scholarships can be reduced if cut from team

We help families understand how scholarships work and set realistic  expectations throughout the process.

Parents should support and facilitate while allowing the student athlete to lead communication and decision-making.

  • Student athlete should initiate contact with coaches
  • Parents handle logistics, paperwork, and financial discussions
  • Parents can ask questions during campus visits
  • Coaches prefer direct communication with athletes
  • Student should make final school decision

We coach both parents and athletes on appropriate roles so you work together as a team.

Waiting too long to start, focusing only on athletics over academics, and failing to communicate proactively with coaches.

  • Starting too late: Missing early recruiting windows and deadlines
  • Chasing "the dream": Unrealistic expectations about scholarship opportunities
  • Ignoring academics: Poor grades close doors regardless of athletic talent
  • Putting all eggs in one basket: Not exploring multiple schools/options
  • Letting coach make decision: Student should drive the choice, not just follow recruiting
  • Forgetting it's their education: Athletics end, but degree lasts forever
  • Poor communication: Not responding to coaches or following up appropriately

  • Who needs it: All D-I and D-II athletes (D-III doesn't require it)
  • When to register: Sophomore or junior year at eligibilitycenter.org
  • What it reviews: High school transcripts, test scores, amateur status
  • Cost: $115 domestic, $210 international
  • Processing time: Can take months, so register early
